This Cleaning Spray Smells Better Than Anything Else I Own

In the race for the best-smelling thing in my apartment, I am currently losing—badly. But I must confess, there’s a lot of competition out there. The perfume shelf of my beauty cabinet holds some of my favorites (like Serge Lutens Fleur D’Oranger and Le Labo Gaiac 10), along with some rarer scents that I’ve been collecting (such as Comme des Garçons Grace by Grace Coddington Eau de Toilette, the only perfume that the fashion icon has ever created). The air in my living room is usually scented with my favorite candle of the moment (right now it’s Loewe Tomato Leaves). Even my laundry has become a contender, as I’ve recently gotten into the world of fancy laundry detergents (my bed smells like Francis Kurkdjian’s Aqua Universalis, and it makes me feel grateful to be alive). But my kitchen counters have really become the new star, thanks to Homecourt, a new line of cleaning and household products founded by none other than Courteney Cox.

In the past year, my home has been “Homecourted,” a subtle takeover by brand, which takes ordinary household products and makes them irresistible. Specifically, I can’t get enough of the Surface Cleaner. Instead of the typical lemony bleach, there are six different scents on offer, including mandarin and basil. I love how each one is instantly recognizable and smells like something you’d encounter in real life, rather than smelling artificial or too rich. For example, Steeped Rose doesn’t smell like a French perfume, but rather has the aroma of a freshly bloomed flower.

On a recent weekend, I stayed at the Jenni Kayne Farmhouse with friends, and the bathrooms were all stocked with Homecourt products. We were so taken with the Surface Cleaner in particular that we ordered it on the drive home. Rest assured, the results are far from surface-level: I’ve personally used the cleaning spray to panic-wash my apartment in 30 minutes before a guest showed up, clean the microwave after a melted butter explosion, and scrub the grime from my bathtub. It does work nicely, with plant-based surfactants and glycerin in the formula to make them pleasing on the skin, too.

The best kind of gift is something both beautiful and functional, and Homecourt’s Cleaning Spray is the perfect blend of both. It’s also fancy enough that the recipient won’t balk at the suggestion that they need to tidy up. Give it to the cleaning-obsessed Monica Geller fan in your life.
