I’ve been a fitness writer for over a decade, which means I’ve tried tons of different activewear brands. It also means I can be quite picky when I try a new one. Does the waistband fall over? Do the leggings slouch? Is the material see through? Do I have enough support to perform my best? All of these questions roll through my mind whenever I sweat-test an outfit for the first time. A quick TikTok scroll is also always a part of my research, so when I was asked to try Oner Active, I obviously went straight to #Fittok for some insight. The result: The brand is well-known and loved for its leggings and shorts, which earn raves for their great stretch and ever-popular butt scrunch. There’s also a wide array of colors and styles of tops and bodysuits that flatter different body types.
Founded in 2020 by strength coach and fitfluencer Krissy Cela, Oner Active was created to fill a gap for girlies who love to lift, and want to look stylish while doing so. Oner Active provides affordable high-quality, size inclusive performance and loungewear, making it a great option for women with an athletic build or more curves. As someone who strength-trains weekly, I was eager to get my hands on some Oner Active.
My usual workouts include boxing, circuit-based strength training, and Pilates. I need my athleticwear to have compression for my HIIT-focused workouts, but less so for my low-impact ones. I’m also someone who overheats easily so breathability is super important to me. Taking all of that into consideration, I opted for the Everyday Sports Bra ($34) in Muscle Mommy Red, Unified Wrap Shorts ($45) in Black, Effortless Seamless Leggings ($55) in Black, and the Unified Scoop Back All in One Bodysuit ($63) in Power Pink. The bra, shorts, and leggings are all best-sellers; I threw the bodysuit into the mix since workout one-pieces are definitely having a moment.
What I Like About Oner Active
First and foremost I loved the Everyday Sports Bra (shown in the picture above). The scoop neck is a beautiful cut and it held my girls in place during Skill Mill sprints, pike pushups, and burpees at Project Sculpt. The medium support was enough for me, a 34B, and sizes range from XS to XXL. I also loved the affordability and the different color ranges—over 40!
The Unified Wrap Shorts — also in the image above — were also a win in my book. The high, crisscross waistband made them incredibly flattering. I was worried it would fold over during weighted sumo squats or alternating lunges. but the internal mesh and four-way stretch helped ward off unwanted slippage.
I was similarly impressed with the Effortless Seamless Leggings, which were soft, lightweight, and equally flattering. I put this pair through the ringer at Alpha Fit Club Jersey City where I did sprints on the assault bike and rower, wall ball squats, and more. The quick-drying fabric kept me cool even though I was working hard (hence the sweat stains on my top). Just like the sports bra, they come in a ton of color options, and the price point makes it easy to add more to your cart.
What’s Worth Noting About Oner Active
While I loved the fit and feel of the Effortless Seamless Leggings, the website does come with one important disclaimer regarding their opacity: “Due to the knitted structure of this fabric, these leggings are not 100% squat-proof. We recommend wearing a skin-tone colored thong.” As you can see from the photographs, I didn’t experience any issues but it’s worth keeping in mind if you prefer working out commando.
In related news, I found that the torso of the Unified Scoop Back All In One bodysuit was pretty see-through, making it easy to see the built-in bra. As for the fit, the silhouette was flattering (I love the back!), but I found myself constantly pulling down the shorts during my URFIT Wall Pilates class; they rode up during glute bridges, kickbacks, and pulses. It’s also worth mentioning that neither the leggings nor the shorts I tried have pockets.
Who Is Oner Active Good For?
The Oner Active sports bra, leggings, and shorts I tried are good for those who like to do strength and circuit-based workouts, as well as low-impact workouts. Personally, I don’t think the leggings offer enough compression and would worry about the wear in longer distance runs or cycling classes. (The fabric only contains 11% Elastane, which makes them super lightweight and stretchy, but not necessarily great for running. For context, Lululemon’s beloved Align leggings are made with 19%.) That being said, if you’re looking for a legging to wear while running errands, these are a great option. The silhouette is super flattering and the wide array of colors makes it easy to create endless outfits. Plus, petite queens (myself included) will love that Oner Active leggings come in both short lengths, as well as longer ones for taller goddesses. And if you’re someone who prefers to put the ‘leisure’ in ‘athleisure’? They also have tons of great loungewear options available.
