The Hulu hit Tell Me Lies finished its second season in October, and fans can’t wait for more. The story is based on the novel of the same name by Carola Lovering following the relationship between Lucy Albright and Stephen DeMarco, played by Grace Van Patten and Jackson White, respectively. The couple has a difficult relationship to say the least, meeting first during Lucy’s first year at college and going on to ruin one another’s lives for decades. The couple has aged through the seasons, but their connection doesn’t seem to fade.

Here’s everything we know about a season three of Tell Me Lies so far.

Spoilers head.

Has Tell Me Lies been renewed for season three?

It has not yet been confirmed that there will be another season of the popular show. In an interview with Variety, creator and executive producer Meaghan Oppenheimer seemed to think there was plenty of material for it if there is another season. Oppenheimer specifically focused on the potential time jump from 2008 to 2015.

“I did map that out way in advance when I just thought about what the structure of the show was,” Oppenheimer said. “And I thought, we’ll get more and more of the future as time goes on. I think by the third season, we will still have some 2008 because there’s stuff that we have to wrap up there. But I think it would be a little bit shifted in the sense that there will probably be more 2015 than 2008.”

What would Tell Me Lies season three be about?

Stephen and Lucy end the second season with their relationship issues blowing up at Bree and Evan’s wedding. Lucy’s boyfriend Max dumps her, and while that might have led to a happy ending with Stephen, he decides to throw a grenade into the ceremony by sending an audio recording in which Evan admitted to cheating on Bree with Lucy directly to the bride. Because the show jumps around in time, viewers will have to find out what the fallout of all this is and how Stephen ends up engaged to Lucy’s ex-best friend Lydia in the future.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Van Patten and White discussed the huge reveal.

“I could not believe that Stephen had recorded Evan saying that [he cheated on Bree with Lucy], and saved it for how many years? Eight years,” Van Patten said.

She continued, “The work this man had to go through to just hold a bomb for eight years… so much work. That just went beyond my expectations of how manipulative he actually was. I really couldn’t believe that. I was also shocked, and I’m so curious, what would be in Meaghan’s head for a third season and what the rest of that wedding would look like.”

White said, “I wonder if it would be cool to see Stephen completely stuck with nowhere to run to, nowhere to go. I don’t even know what that means, like no method of manipulating his way out of something. And then also, Meaghan said that there was an idea of a threesome with Wrigley and if that came up, I wouldn’t push against it. But we’ll see, fingers crossed.”

The second season took far more liberties with the source material than the first, so it might not be possible to guess what happens based on the original text. But the writers clearly know how to generate plenty of new drama.

Who is returning for Tell Me Lies season three?

The show’s stars Grace Van Patten and Jackson White would be a must for any season of the show. Other current cast members include Catherine Missal as Bree, Spencer House as Wrigley, Sonia Mena as Pippa, Branden Cook as Evan, Alicia Crowder as Diana, Gabriella Pession as Marianne, and Natalee Linez as Lydia.

Oppenheimer, however, suggested that Tom Ellis probably won’t return as Oliver in season 3. She and Ellis are actually married in real life, and she told Variety that he was “just wanting to do one season,” and that season two “wrapped up his storyline in a way that really worked.”

When will Tell Me Lies season three come out?

There’s no news yet for a season three release date.

This post will be updated.
