Travis Kelce’s friend Baron Corbin just raised the curtain a bit on what Taylor Swift is really like behind closed doors. The professional wrestler spoke about his experience meeting the superstar during a WWE Summerslam media day this past Friday.
Corbin and Swift first crossed paths at a Kansas City Chiefs game in December. Kelce extended him an invite, and Corbin in turn avoided asking about Swift. He said of Kelce, via Us Weekly, “He’s just a friend so you don’t think, ‘Hey, is Taylor going to be there?’ You don’t want to ask or anything like that.”
In fact, he assumed Swift wasn’t attending. When she showed up, he was struck by her kindness. “[She’s] obviously one of the biggest stars on the planet and when you meet her, you’re like, ‘Oh she’s so nice, so down to earth,’” he said. “If you lived under a rock and had no idea who Taylor Swift was you would just think she’s an awesome person.”
Swift was “welcoming,” Corbin shared. “The moment she meets you, she gives you a hug.” He said she was there to “have a good time and have a drink” and “can hang with the boys.”
“It’s rare to find someone like that on that level of stardom be so humble and cool that you would never know,” he continued. “Other than the fact that you’re like, ‘Oh, she obviously is important, does something,’ if you had no idea, but you’re like, ‘She’s so nice.’”
In June, Kelce spoke about being impressed by the way Swift treated his friends and family. “She’s very self-aware,” he said during his appearance on the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast. “She understands situations like that. I think that’s why I started to really fall for her, was how genuine she is around friends, family. It can get crazy for somebody with that much attention, and she just keeps it so chill and so cool. And that’s what I can admire for sure.”
