Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have been public with their relationship since September of last year, and plenty of people have shared an opinion about their romance. Now, Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt has weighed in, explaining how the NFL star’s love life has plugged into this football season and insisting that there are no PR machinations afoot—Kelce and Swift’s romance is “organic.”
“It was purely organic,” he said on Mad Money with Jim Cramer. “When they were just starting off dating, there were a lot of people saying, ‘Oh, it’s a marketing stunt.’ But no, it’s very real. And as I said, the most important thing is we’re happy for the two of them.”
Hunt continued, “We’re so happy for Travis Kelce and Taylor in their relationship.”
The CEO has met Swift in person “at one of the many games that she’s attended this year.”
“She’s just as sweet as she can be,” he said. “I also got to see her play here twice this past summer, and what an incredible performer. Just one of the most amazing artists of our time.”
That’s right: Hunt is a Swiftie. And he says that the team’s women fanbase has gone up since Swift started attending games, which makes him an even bigger fan.
Kelce has weighed in on Swift’s popularity with fans as well, reflecting in December on his New Heights podcast about her attendance at a recent game with the Chiefs against the Patriots.
“I’ll say this: They showed Taylor at the game,” he began. “You don’t see an entire home team fan base go insane for somebody wearing the opposite team’s colors. Just shows you how amazing that girl is. They went absolutely insane when they showed Taylor on the screen, yes.”
He added, “There might have been a few Brads and Chads that were booing. But for the most part, everyone was f-cking screaming their tail off for her. And I was trying to keep it cool: I was like, ‘Don’t show your cards, don’t show your cards.’ It was fun, man. So shoutout to the Patriots, New England. She’s on record saying that that stadium is one of the funnest that she’s played at so for them to show her is just them showing her some love, so shoutout to the Patriots for doing that.”
