You know how, when you’re single and thriving, you swear you could never commit to just one person forever? Then, you find your perfect match, and suddenly no one else matters? Call me dramatic, but I feel similarly about handbags.

I’ve always had a collection that afforded me the luxury of a wide range of options on standby—especially when I’m looking for a statement-maker. Why reach for an everyday black hobo when I can opt for a vibrant micro-bag, a metallic clutch, or an embellished top-handle style?

Recently, though, I’ve found my sartorial perfect match—and I’m here making things official with the Longchamp Box-Trot M Baguette Bag in Lawn. It’s got everything I need and more. After a few weeks of wear-testing, I’m breaking up with the other handbags on my roster and going green for good.

When searching for the ideal bag, I had a long list of requirements. In addition to being practical and easy to style, I wanted it to be from a brand I knew could guarantee exquisite quality and fine leather. However, I expressly did not want a bag that everyone else was carrying. I’m the kind of gal that prefers to start trends (or at the very least, be spotted sporting them before they hit the mainstream). And I was seeking a style with It Bag potential.

Given my requirements, Longchamp’s Box-Trot M Baguette was love at first sight. As a longtime fan of the brand, I had faith in the quality of its calfskin leather; seeing the durable material glam-ified by the Lawn green colorway gave me hearts-eyes. Add the fact that it’s less than $600 and you can understand why I developed a major crush. Here, allow me to wax poetic on a few more aspects of the Box-Trot M Baguette that I find to be it.

The Lawn makes a statement.

Whether I’m going for a color-blocked look or just seeking a simple pop to offset an otherwise neutral ensemble, this colorway is the perfect pièce de résistance to any outfit. And unlike some hues, a grassy green works well year-round. I paired mine with crisp white linen dresses for summer, and I’m into future styling opportunities with a black leather trench and denim for fall. Then I see it with a thick camel coat and knitwear for winter, and floral midis and pastel tweed suiting come spring.

Jewelry won’t clash with the hardware.

To be clear, I’m 100 percent in favor of intentionally mixing metals, but there’s something about having my hardware clash with my jewelry that bums me out. This is never the case with my tonal Box-Trot M Baguette, as it looks like it’s been fully submerged in a can of green paint. The XXL Longchamp medal on the front is as green as it gets, and with no other visible hardware (there’s a gunmetal closure and zipper inside, in case you’re wondering), I’m free to pair this piece with absolutely any kind of jewelry, from layers of silver chains to chunky gold rings galore.

The strap length is—for lack of a better word—perfection.

Let’s just say that size does indeed matter when you’re seeking out your perfect match. Perhaps the most elusive element of a truly great shoulder bag is a versatile strap length. I find that some shoulder straps fit too snugly under my arm, while others hang too low and create the illusion of a shortened torso. This is the first time I’ve encountered a shoulder bag with this exact strap length—6.7 inches, to be precise. It fits just below the armpit in an effortlessly chic sort of way, and it’s a great length for keeping at the crook of the arm, which is where I carry it most often. If you prefer to carry your bag by the strap and swing it around as you stroll, I can confirm it’s perfect for that, too.

It fits everything I need—and I need a lot.

I require my bag to fit the following: my card holder, a portable charger, a mini tripod, a phone light (hey, I’m an overpacker), a blotting powder, a lip gloss, and my house keys. When I first realized that everything fit in the Box-Trot M Baguette, I packed it up and never bothered to take everything out again. Told you, I’m smitten.
