On a week where many Americans are returning to work after the holidays, Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson private-jetted off to the Bahamas for their first big public vacation since they started dating in November. It turns out, Entertainment Tonight reports, that there’s a reason they’re taking a trip now: They’re about to be spending more time apart.

“Kim and Pete are on vacation spending time together,” a source told the outlet. “The two weren’t able to ring in the new year since she was with her family in California and Pete was hosting his NYE special [with Miley Cyrus] in Miami. [They] know they have a busy couple of months coming up with her company rebrand and Pete filming various projects, so they wanted to take some time to spend together before things ramp up.”

Time will tell whether Kardashian shares photos from her trip and any shots with Davidson on her Instagram. The two were photographed by paparazzi boarding a private jet bound for the Bahamas Monday morning. Kardashian’s two most recent Instagram Stories were about her SKIMS line, not her vacation.

At the end of December, People got an update on how their relationship is shaping up. There’s PDA galore: “Kim is so into him,” the source said. “[Kim and Pete] are both really cuddly and affectionate with each other. They seem more comfortable than couples who have been together a long time. Kim is obviously very happy with him.”

An insider told the outlet that following Kardashian’s divorce from Kanye West last year, Davidson is the perfect foray back into love and dating.

“He’s exactly what Kim needed after her divorce—someone to make her laugh and just have a fun time with,” that source said. “The end of her marriage was a very dark time for her and Pete has been the best antidote.”
