In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the White House Office of Public Engagement in partnership with members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus hosted a series of discussions today about Latino contributions across media and how the Latino narrative is shaped through cultural and media representation. Three virtual panels were held from 1-2:30 p.m. EST focusing on TV and film, music, and industry, all of which you can watch here:

The first panel, all about film and television, was hosted by Rep. Joaquin Castro and featured Cris Abrego, the chairman of Banijay Americas and chairman of the Television Academy Foundation; Tanya Saracho, a creator and showrunner; Felix Sanchez, the chairman of the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts; and Steven Canals, a screenwriter and producer.

The second panel, discussing music, was hosted by Cedric Richmond, senior advisor to the president, and featured Manuel Abud, the CEO of the Latin Recording Academy; Jackie Beato, the executive vice president of operations at Live Nation; writer, producer, and rapper Residente; and musician and producer Emilio Estefan.

The third and final panel focused on the entertainment industry, hosted by Rep. Linda Sánchez. Panelists included Dr. Ana-Christina Ramón, the director of research and civic engagement at UCLA Division of Social Science; John Gibson, the vice president of external and multicultural affairs at Motion Picture Association; and Netflix’s director of original series, Pete Corona.
