Dr. Sasha Hamdani is a board certified psychiatrist who specializes in helping people with ADHD, but in this TikTok video, she shares a private and vulnerable moment during her own panic attack. She explains what triggered the panic attack (it was ADHD-related trauma), and also describes the physical symptoms she was experiencing including shallow breathing and increased heart rate. Dr. Hamdami is fighting back her tears, and shares that she needs to stop filming because of her symptoms, but accidentally left the camera on. You can hear her deep breathing and she shares these three things that helped her through that moment:

  1. I hid in my car (I left the trigger)
  2. I tried to breathe from my stomach and not my chest/throat.
  3. I tried to find the letters of my name in license plates in the parking lot.

If you find yourself having a panic attack, try one or all three of these techniques to help alleviate the physical symptoms and stop the panic attack as quickly as possible.
