Emma Watson started making appearances around Oxford University in 2023, and it’s been reported that she is pursuing a master’s degree in creative writing at the esteemed college. Just like any student, the Harry Potter star has a winter break, and she appears to be spending it in France on a luxurious ski trip.
On December 28, the Daily Mail shared pics of Watson on the slopes of high-end resort Courchevel. The actress was wearing black ski pants, a white cardigan, a blue and white checkered ski coat, and a playful reindeer antler headband. A bystander told the publication, “Emma looks like she’s a bit of a wizard on the ski slopes and appeared very confident, relaxed and happy. She seemed to be having a great time sitting outdoors in the sunshine sipping coffee while chatting to friends.”
Watson is a big fan of skiing, even owning a holiday chalet near the ski resort Meribel. An insider told The Mirror, “It is in a very sought-after location in Meribel, which is prized by celebrities and the wealthy because it is very private. It is a very pretty resort, unspoiled and certainly not sprawling and the scenery is spectacular. Snow is guaranteed because it is high altitude. Ms Watson is a keen skier and uses a local instructor who says she is very pleasant and unassuming.”
In 2023, she told British Vogue about her decision to go to school and step back from acting.
“Going into my 30s, I was in this moment of real change and [thinking] ‘What is going on?’” she said. “And it was someone else who said to me, ‘Oh, this is normal. You’re going through your Saturn return.’ [I was] like, ‘What is that and why has no one warned me?!’ I’ve spoken to so many women and so many of my friends who said, ‘Oh, yeah, between 28 and, like, 30, 31, 32, that kind of age, everything shifted.’ ”
She continued, “Because I’m in a career that moves very quickly, the decision to take time to do these things felt like a very big decision. [Choosing] to go back and write and study and get behind the camera was terrifying for me because I’d never done it before. I had always been in front of the camera; I’d always been an actor.”
