On Thursday, Michelle Williams debuted in her role as Viola Van Horn in the new Broadway musical, Death Becomes Her. It was a big night for Williams and she was supported by her former Destiny’s Child band members, Kelly Rowland and Beyoncé, who both attended to applaud for their friend from the audience. Rowland was accompanied by husband Tim Weatherspoon and they were joined by Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles.
Rowland and Knowles walked the red carpet ahead of the show without the Renaissance singer, who joined later. On Saturday, she shared a series of video clips and pictures in an Instagram Reel to show how excited she was to be there, including pics of the Playbill and posing backstage with Rowland and Williams for a mini reunion.
In a fan photo, Beyoncé could be seen in the audience wearing an off-white trucker hat and pale gray coat, smiling widely at the stage. In her Reel, she included shots of the full look, which included a matching top and shorts
She later shared a second carousel of images, starting with a pic of Williams sitting in the audience in a gorgeous gown. Beyoncé captioned the post, “My Belle.”
Williams posted about the show as well, and Knowles wrote in the comments, “The Play was fantastic !!!!!!!!’nn you killed it My Belle ❤️❤️❤️so proud of you ❤️❤️❤️.”
Death Becomes Her is an adaptation of the 1992 movie of the same name, originally starring Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn, Bruce Willis, and Isabella Rossellini, the latter of which played Viola. The story follows Streep and Hawn as two women struggling with aging as they fight over a man, played by Willis. They eventually turn to Viola, finding a magic youth potion that gives them the secret to eternal life and beauty—and it gets ugly.
