Spoilers below.

With Agatha All Along, Kathryn Hahn has brought a fan-favorite WandaVision character to life, plus she enjoyed an onscreen romantic entanglement with Aubrey Plaza, got a song on the Billboard chart, and become the “the first woman to show butt in the Marvel Cinematic Universe”. But it seems her road as the beloved witch ends with this week’s season (and series) finale… for now.

The ninth and last episode delivered a literal kiss of death for Agatha Harkness. And for anyone wondering if she’ll be revived with a season 2 renewal, don’t get your hopes up. Agatha All Along was announced as a limited series from the start, and most shows in the MCU so far have only aired for one season (with the exception of Loki, which got two).

According to Forbes, “there was never supposed to be a season 2.” Writer Paul Tassi added, “And unlike other streaming services, where if a miniseries does well enough, it might twist itself into a second season, that is not likely to happen here. It’s probably almost impossible.”

Of course, Agatha fans could hold out hope for the sliiiiight chance Marvel changes its mind. But they can also take solace in the fact that her story is part of a larger, ongoing narrative. Agatha All Along is loosely part of a trilogy that began with 2021’s WandaVision and is set to end with a Vision-centric series, Vision Quest, that’s slated for 2026. There might also be a future for Teen, a.k.a. Billy Maximoff (Joe Locke), who is a member of the Young Avengers, which Marvel seems keen to adapt as well. According to Men’s Health, the project was teased at the end of The Marvels. And if a potential Scarlet Witch movie makes it to theaters, who knows, Agatha could pop up there too.

In the meantime, at least we can still stream “The Ballad of the Witches’ Road” on Spotify. Here’s what else we know.

But could there be another season of Agatha All Along?

While all signs seem to point to no, a few hints that dropped after the finale seem to hint otherwise.

When asked by TheWrap if there were plans for a season 2, Schaeffer cryptically answered, “You know, it’s hard to speak about because I have a lot of awareness of what the handoffs are between different properties. So really, all I can say is I, as a fan, am so excited about this duo of Billy Maximoff and his spirit guide, Ghost Agatha. And I think that there’s a lot of opportunity there.”

Later in the interview, however, she added that there wasn’t meant to be more than nine episodes of Agatha.

Variety also reported on November 4 that Agatha was submitted for awards consideration under the comedy series category—instead of as a limited series. This could be a strong clue that Agatha might get renewed, but Marvel has yet to comment on the speculation.
