Selena Gomez spent her weekend in London, promoting Emilia Pérez in an assortment of dark outfits. From black pantsuits to navy plaid sets, the actress and her stylist, Erin Walsh, essentially put on a mini fashion show. The two culminated their collaboration with a final look: a black Elie Saab gown with cutout sleeves and a pleated skirt. Gomez wore it to the BAFTA film preview of Emilia Pérez last night and accessorized with Hassanzadeh jewelry.
Earlier that same day, Gomez was photographed in a navy, black, and gold plaid jacket and skirt at Netflix’s London Film Festival awards brunch. Emilia Pérez will be streaming on the platform starting November 13.
On Saturday, Gomez stepped out in not one, but two looks. She started her day in a black pantsuit at the Deadline Contenders Film event:
In the evening, for a special screening of Emilia Pérez, she changed into a black embroidered Erdem dress, which she paired with a Wolford bodysuit, Christian Louboutin heels, and Aariya jewelry:
But her most extravagant London outfit was the red Oscar de la Renta ball gown she wore to the film’s U.K. premiere on Friday. Gomez has been wearing all black looks throughout her press tour, so the scarlet gown marked a big deviation from her choice color palette.
It was the second red look of her press tour: Gomez also wore a rosette-adorned midi dress to the Cannes Film Festival photo-call for Emilia Pérez:
She and her co-stars Zoe Saldaña, Karla Sofia Gascón, and Adriana Paz all won the best actress award at the French film festival.
In late September, at Emilia Pérez’s New York City premiere, Gomez spoke to Extra about how she felt taking home the big Cannes honor and seeing the audience’s reaction to the project.
“We had never seen the movie, the cast, so I didn’t know what to expect,” she shared. “I trust Jacques [Audiard, the film’s director] completely, but I was I was sitting down and I was really nervous because I didn’t know what the reaction was going to be after. So to see that happen, I was actually more tearful for Karla because she put her whole being into this and she just deserves all the praise and I was shocked. It was beautiful.”
When asked how she feels about being part of the Oscar conversation, Gomez replied, “I don’t know. We’ll see about that? I truly feel honored that it’s even being acclaimed the way that it is. It’s such a beautiful story, so if anything, this is my proudest moment for sure.”
