While on break from her Don’t Forget Me Tour, Maggie Rogers spent an afternoon in downtown Manhattan supporting up-and-coming filmmakers. The musician stepped out at Locanda Verde restaurant to celebrate Through Her Lens: The Tribeca Chanel Women’s Filmmaker Program, which offers funding, mentorship, and other guidance to women and nonbinary writers, directors, and producers based in the U.S. With the program celebrating its 10th year, guests like Olivia Wilde, Patty Jenkins, Ruth E. Carter, Gayle King, Rosie Perez, Janicza Bravo, and Beanie Feldstein also came out to support.

“You can’t take this room for granted,” said Jane Rosenthal, Tribeca CEO and co-founder, in her opening remarks, referring to the filmmakers, producers, actors, and creatives seated around the restaurant. Before guests dug into their arugula salads and truffle pastas, Rosenthal proposed a fitting toast: “Raise a glass to the future, to hopefully a woman president. To not taking anything for granted.”

“It’s so inspiring to be in a room full of powerful women creating timeless imagery in film and mentoring the next generation of great female filmmakers,” Rogers tells ELLE.com. “I loved catching up with old friends—I was seated with Phoebe Tonkin and Olivia Wilde, who I adore—and had a mini-starstruck moment meeting Misty Copeland, legend among legends.”

Rogers was dressed head to toe in Chanel, including a black lambskin jacket from the house’s fall/winter 2023/24 pre-collection, paired with black satin pants and a white tank. For jewelry, she wore “Coco Crush” rings and earrings in 18-karat yellow gold, and accessories included a pair of sunglasses and a bright-green quilted Chanel bag. (Perhaps a must-have piece for brat fall?)

“What I love about Chanel is that it always make me feel like the most effortless and elevated version of myself,” she says. “A leather jacket, black pants, and tank top are an everyday uniform for me, but the beautiful details on the jacket sleeve and the satin pants made it all feel so special.”

And while she was away from the stage during Tuesday’s event, her mind was still on the next leg of her tour, which picks back up with arena shows in October.

“Every day right now is spent dreaming up a different detail for the production of this tour. I’ve been working on special video content, looking at lighting renders, finessing the setlist, and collaborating on sketches for beautiful new costumes,” says Rogers. “I love the 360 element of creating a tour and building a world for the music to live in, and this tour is on a whole new scale. I can’t wait!”
