Taylor Swift isn’t having her annual Fourth of July party this election year, but her reason has little to do with politics. This holiday, the singer will be far from her Watch Hill, Rhode Island, beach home where she’s hosted her bashes in the past—and onstage in Amsterdam instead.

Swift will be performing three Eras Tour shows in the Netherlands from Thursday, July 4 through Saturday, July 6. It’s unclear whether her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, will join her for the concerts. He did, however, tease on his podcast, New Heights, today that he will likely be back onstage with her soon.

Swift used to hold Fourth of July fêtes every year, stopping her cadence after 2016. (That was the year she was dating Tom Hiddleston, and he wore the infamous “I Heart TS” tank at one of her most heavily-covered Fourth of July parties.)

Last year, she brought the party back and shared Instagrams of her celebrating with Selena Gomez, the Haim sisters, and other friends. It was right before her Travis Kelce love story began, as evidenced by her caption teasing her then-imminent Kansas City Eras tour concert.

“Happy belated Independence Day from your local neighborhood independent girlies 😎” she wrote on July 7. “See you tonight Kansas Cityyy.”

Swift explained to The Guardian in 2019 that, for years following the 2016 election, Swift didn’t throw any Taymerica celebrations due to her “disillusionment” with America.

She touched more on what changed after summer 2016 in a September 2019 interview with Vogue. “You know, the summer before that [2016] election, all people were saying was, ‘She’s calculated. She’s manipulative. She’s not what she seems. She’s a snake. She’s a liar,’” Swift recalled, going on to explain why she didn’t endorse a candidate that election. “These are the same exact insults people were hurling at Hillary Clinton, [then presidential candidate]. Would I be an endorsement or would I be a liability? Look, snakes of a feather flock together. Look, the two lying women. The two nasty women. Literally, millions of people were telling me to disappear. So I disappeared. In many senses.”
