Gigi Hadid brought a little retro style to the 2024 Met Gala red carpet. The model wore a white off-the-shoulder Thom Browne dress with a tiered skirt decorated with yellow flowers to honor the night’s “The Garden of Time” dress code. She accessorized with Chopard jewelry and posed on her own, rather than making a debut with her boyfriend, Bradley Cooper.
After the Met Gala, her stylist Mimi Cuttrell shared full details on the dress, including that the tiered skirt was actually detachable. Hadid wore a column gown under it with a corset top. “Gigi wears a shiny white micro bugle bead corset dress with 3D yellow rose embroidered detail,” Cuttrell wrote. “Suspended from the exaggerated hip dress is a draped white silk moiré tailored jacket with black duchess satin tipping. An array of 3D yellow roses, green vines and thorns are appliqued throughout. Embroidery techniques and components include bullion, crystals, silk satin stitch and lovebird beads.
“The white dress has 2,800,000 micro bugle beads and it took twenty people 5,000 hours to embroider the dress,” Cuttrell added. “The skirt took forty people a total of 8,500 hours to embroider. Seventy people were involved in the making of this dress.”

Hadid is a regular at the Met Gala. Last year, she wore a partly-sheer, black cutout corset dress by Givenchy for the event’s “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty” theme.
The Met Gala is Hadid’s first red carpet event of the year. Her last appearance was in September 2023 for the Victoria’s Secret fashion show.
Hadid spoke with W last year about living in the moment. “Most of the craziest things in my life, they weren’t goals or dreams because I didn’t really think they were possible,” she said. “If and when I make really specific goals, I can get quite tunnel-visioned. I’ve learned over the years that I enjoy the process more when I focus on being in the moment.”
She also shared that her daughter, Khai, is part of her getting ready process. “We get ready together. She watches me do my thing,” she said. “She’ll brush her teeth with me, and now she’s wanting to put moisturizer on, which is so cute.”
She spoke adoringly of Khai’s personality, saying, “She really makes me laugh. We crack up and dance all day and talk a lot. She’s almost 3, and she is a genius, if I do say so myself.”
