Actress Anne Hathaway has been promoting her film, The Idea of You in New York City. On April 29, the star wore two monochromatic looks in one day.
She started off in white, pairing a minidress with a matching short-sleeve jacket by Patou, sheer white Calzedonia tights, and stiletto heels. The actress carried a Patou crescent bag and finished her look off with a pair of black oversized sunglasses.
For her second look, Hathaway changed into an aquamarine dress by Simkhai with sheer cutouts on the chest and bodice. She added matching stiletto heels.
Hathaway’s new project, The Idea of You, is a movie adaptation of Robinne Lee’s novel of the same name. The film follows Solène, a 40-year-old mother and art gallery owner in Los Angeles, who ends up meeting Hayes, the 24-year-old singer of a popular boy band, by accident at Coachella. Sparks fly, and they have a whirlwind romance.
During her Today show appearance this morning, Hathaway addressed the characters’ age gap. “It’s kind of fun to be in a film where we talk about it, where we don’t dance around it, but we actually embrace her point of view on it,” she said.
“It’s OK if 40 is old, it’s OK if 40 isn’t old, it’s OK whatever it is, because it’s personal,” she continued. “For Solène, her point of view is, you know, she became a mom really young, and she really wanted to have a career and so she doesn’t totally identify with her age. She feels like maybe she’s done things a little bit out of order, and for her, 40 means it’s a time…of self discovery for her. And that’s what the movie says…how wonderful that she finds someone that she feels so supported by, seen by, embraced by, valued by.”
The star added that she “poured so much love, so much life experience into this film.”
Nicholas Galitzine, who plays Hayes, joined Hathaway for the talk show appearance. They revealed that they had chemistry right away.
Galitzine reflected on their audition, saying jokingly, “well, Annie put me through the ringer.” They performed “a couple of pretty amazing scenes, one quite comedic, one very emotional,” he continued. At one point, he even “serenaded Annie.”
“The whole room, it wasn’t just me,” Hathaway chimed in, laughing. “Nick sang at the audition with his guitar and looked at me sometimes.”
