Zendaya unfollowed everyone on her Instagram following list, including boyfriend Tom Holland, at the beginning of 2024. Holland, however, still follows her.

Some people reasoned she made the move because she is preparing to promote her new film Challengers. Blake Lively, for example, briefly unfollowed her husband, Ryan Reynolds, when promoting A Simple Favor in 2018. (Lively unfollowed everyone but 30 women named Emily Nelson, the name of her character.) Zendaya even posted about Challengers on January 1:

Neither Holland nor Zendaya has said anything about the unfollowing since the initial reports on January 4. Zendaya has not posted anything new either.

Their silence inspired TMZ to get more information about Holland and Zendaya’s relationship status to dispel fans’ concern that something might have happened between them.

While the couple has not been photographed out together by paparazzi since late October, they have been seen by fans together more recently.

They also had their first new sighting this week, albeit separately. Zendaya and Holland were photographed out in Los Angeles on Wednesday at different times, TMZ wrote. Zendaya was snapped out driving with a friend in the afternoon, while Holland went to Members Club on his own that evening.

One source with direct knowledge told TMZ that Holland and Zendaya spent New Year’s Eve together, proof that “just because we don’t SEE them together, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re not.” The outlet added that their loved ones have not heard of any breakup news either. Their reps did not respond to TMZ’s request for comment.

Zendaya and Holland have tried to keep their relationship private. Zendaya spoke about the interest in their relationship in her September interview with ELLE.

When asked whether the public adoration of their relationship made it easier to accept the attention, she said, “Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public. I can’t not be a person and live my life and love the person I love. But also, I do have control over what I choose to share. It’s about protecting the peace and letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist. You can’t hide. That’s not fun, either. I am navigating it more than ever now.”
