How to Do Après-Ski Style Right, According to Kendall Jenner

Après-ski attire can best be described as cozy, but that doesn’t keep the street style-savvy on the mountain from looking their best. Case in point: Kendall Jenner, who gave the wintry aesthetic her own personal twist at the opening night of FWRD’s new pop-up shop in Aspen, Colorado over the weekend. The model, who walked into the store wearing a black puffer jacket and semi-sheer pants by Rick Owens Lilies (Jenner’s seasonal take on the no-pants trend), proved that the look is not all about roomy sweaters, chunky socks, and comfortable ankle boots.

At the pop-up, I pressed the model for more details on her cold-weather style. “I’m super into leather always,” she started. (A girl after my own heart, I responded.) More specifically, she’s currently loving a YSL leather puffer jacket available at the store. Of course, even she can’t get away from leaning into the warmth of good winter staples, which include a good faux fur and a chunky knit. In terms of accessories, “I love a scarf around my head, dope sunglasses, and ear muffs. It’s just…all the vibes,” she added. As for her après style, it’s relatively simple: tights, a skin-tight black T-shirt, and a really good coat.

Jenner’s been working with FWRD as its creative director for the better part of three years, where she regularly creates a curated edit of her must-have pieces all in one place—many of which are on display at the Aspen pop-up. “It’s a really fun creative outlet for me; I get to scour through what’s coming onto the site and see things I wouldn’t normally look at,” she said. She went on to share that the new role allows her to rethink her personal style too, taking note of new pieces that she ultimately thinks are “fire.”

With all that in mind, it’s clear that the model knows a thing or two about good products—and naturally, I ask her what she’ll be gifting her loved ones this year. I imagine it’ll be some of the best designer bags of the moment or something else from the fashion world. Instead, it’s something more meaningful. “As cheesy as this might sound, more of my time—but obviously, there are gifts involved,” she shared with a smile. “I just really love quality time. So for my personal wish list—as well as what I’m giving this year—I’m excited to vacation with my friends in early 2024.”
