On Friday, NFL star Travis Kelce got into the Halloween spirit with some suggestions for how fans can pull off a convincing “Tayvis” costume of himself and rumored girlfriend, Taylor Swift, this year.
“I’ll tell you what, man, that ‘stache and the 87 jersey was pretty iconic there for a little bit and I had it when I met Taylor for the first time, so I guess my ‘stache,” he told reporters during a press conference. He added that trick-or-treaters might don a friendship bracelet, referencing the one he tried to hand off to Swift while at her concert in July at Arrowhead Stadium.
Kelce has shared the story of his fumble that night at Swift’s Eras Tour stop, saying in an episode of his New Heights podcast, “I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings. So, I was a little butt-hurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”
He added more details of getting in touch with her during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
“I threw the ball in her court…I told her, you know, ‘I’ve seen you rock the stage in Arrowhead [Stadium], you might have to come see me rock the stage in Arrowhead and see which one’s a little more lit,” said Kelce.
Swift confirmed rumors that she’d been spending time with the athlete when she attended his game against the Chicago Bears at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City in late September. Swift was photographed sitting with his mom, Donna, up in the VIP box. She was wearing some Kansas City Chiefs merch, another important detail for the potential couple’s costume.
Since then, the pair have been seen out and about quite a bit, flying back and forth between NYC and Kansas City to spend time together. They were even both in attendance at Saturday Night Live last weekend, with Swift introducing her friend and colleague Ice Spice, and Kelce making a brief cameo in a sketch that lampooned their relationship.
