Travis Kelce isn’t keeping completely silent on his love story with Taylor Swift. The football player spoke on his and brother Jason Kelce’s podcast New Heights today about his big weekend with Swift, which included a surprise appearance on SNL and two paparazzi-captured date nights.

He also denied the claim that he pushed her security guard out of the way on Saturday night. (A source had told Entertainment Tonight that “at one point, he actually told her security guard that he could step aside, like he’d take it from here.”)

Jason asked Travis if he received any pushback for the rumors. “I didn’t push him,” Travis clarified, via E!. “I placed my hand on the gentleman’s back to let him know I was behind him. If I would’ve pushed him, he probably would’ve turned around and tased me.”

He clarified his intentions in that moment as he helped Swift out of the car. He said it was like, “‘Good sir, can you excuse me? I need to get the door, sorry. Thank you. I’m right behind you. Don’t want to startle you. I know it’s your job to keep crazy people away. And if you just randomly get pushed in the back while standing in front of a door, that could probably be a little alarming.’”

When asked if he felt like he was a security guard himself when with Swift, he responded, “I feel like whenever I’m on a date, I’m always having the sense of like I’m a man in the situation. I’m, like, protective, yeah, for sure. You always kinda have that feeling or that self-awareness, I guess.”

Regarding their SNL appearance, Kelce revealed that neither his nor Swift’s cameos were planned. “We showed up at SNL having the idea of going to support Ice Spice, her and Taylor are good friends,” he said, via Entertainment Tonight. “I always wanted to meet [host] Pete Davidson, been a fan of his for quite a while, since he was actually on the show, on SNL.

For the skit he joined, “I didn’t know what the skit was, like which skits were coming up, and I’m pretty sure it was just ironic they were doing a skit on Swiftmania, I thought it was hilarious when they asked me to be a part of it, I was like, ‘Man I’d be honored.’ Then Taylor also made a surprise cameo introducing her good friend, Ice Spice, who absolutely killed it, Ice.”

Kelce also addressed footage of Swift talking with his father Ed Kelce at his game on Thursday. Kelce joked to his brother, “Taylor talking to Dad, you already know, you know Dad like I know Dad, this is a terrifying conversation. I felt terrible, I felt terrible for Taylor.”

He then more seriously praised his father and revealed that his dad had taken an extra interest in Swift’s work since Kelce started seeing her. “Our dad is the best dad in the world; he is a great converser or conversator, however, you want to put it,” Kelce said. “It’s where Jason gets his storytelling.”

In the footage and photos that came out, “you can see in this picture, he’s just pumping her up, he started listening to her music more, he started doing some stuff.”
