Emily Ratajkowski and Harry Styles’ surprise makeout in Tokyo is far from the start of their history together, People reports. A source told the outlet that actually, Styles and Ratajkowski go back. “Harry and Emily know each other. They have been friendly for a while,” the source said. That source did not specify how long exactly “a while” is. But it appears to be at least eight months or more, as the Daily Mail noted that Ratajkowski was seen in the audience of one of Styles’ Paris show alongside his then-girlfriend Olivia Wilde in June 2022.
Ratajkowski and Wilde, who were photographed together at the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party earlier this month, are also on good terms. The source described Ratajkowski and Wilde as being “friendly” with each other.

Styles and Wilde went on a break in November after nearly two years of dating. Ratajkowski’s breakup from her ex-husband Sebastian Bear-McClard, meanwhile, was first reported in July 2022. A source told People at the time, “They split recently. It was Em’s decision.”
Styles has made his admiration of Ratajkowski no secret. Multiple outlets have covered the fact that Styles called Emrata his celebrity crush during a December 2014 interview with Telehit.
Ratajkowski has been open about her experience being newly single following her split and evolving stance on relationships. During her March 21 High Low podcast episode where she interviewed Law Roach following his retirement announcement, Ratajkowski stated point blank that she was reluctant to commit to anyone. “I’m newly single, I’m like, I don’t know, if I ever want a relationship again,” she said.
