On Friday, Drew Barrymore shared a now-deleted TikTok of Selena Gomez lip-synching a clip of Barrymore as a child, gushing over the musical artist’s perfect use of the TikTok sound. The clip was from a Tonight Show appearance made when Barrymore was only 9 years old in 1984. Barrymore herself shared the clip in May, and Gomez finally made use of it.
In the clip, young Barrymore exclaims, “I love New York!”
Host David Brenner asks her why, and she cutely answers, “It’s my place…I mean, I love L.A. but I don’t like to dress up in bikinis and go to the beach.”
She adds, “I like to dress up warm and be in my thermies and go run around the hotel!”
This is clearly a feeling that the Only Murders in the Building star can relate to, because she mouthed over the first part of Barrymore’s response while wearing a fluffy cover up, a cream colored vest, and a pair of gold hoops.
Barrymore shared it on her own Instagram timeline, captioning it, “I love this so much. I love you. I’m so honored you used this sound of me from an interview when I was younger!”
The talk show host has been doing very well with her show, though she seems to have taken a step back from acting. She’s also said she’s been taking a step back from dating. Barrymore has been married three times, breaking things off with her last husband Will Kopelman in 2016.
On an episode of her show’s blog this year, she said, “After two kids and a separation from their father that has made me cautious, I have had the pleasure of shifting my focus when it comes to love for myself and my two daughters… I know that does not include a man nor has it for a while. I’ve come to realize through working in therapy, he said something and I had to write it down. He said, ‘Sex is not love! It is the expression of love.’ I have searched my whole life to have words like that to help me understand the difference and now, thanks to him, I do.”
