Kate Middleton and Prince William made a big move from London to Windsor over the summer, choosing to base their family in Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Castle grounds rather than Kensington Palace in London. As they settle into a more quiet life away from the city, People got intel from sources about what the new Prince and Princess of Wales’ day-to-day is like when they aren’t on the royal event circuit.

Raising their children Prince George, 9; Princess Charlotte, 7; and Prince Louis, 4, with more privacy has been lovely. “They love that the kids can go out on their bikes and cycle around the estate, and they are all really excited to meet everyone,” a friend of the couple told the outlet. “It’s a real little community.”

The outlet stressed that Kate wants her children to have as normal an upbringing as possible given their royal status. Insiders told People that their new cottage is similar to their Anmer Hall country home, where the kids regularly swim with their friends in the pool. “George will flop onto the sofa beside his father, while Charlotte makes a beeline for familiar guests,” the outlet wrote.

A close friend described their life there as a “modern royal family doing normal things.”

Us Weekly, meanwhile, ran details today on Kate and William’s upcoming trip to the U.S. in December, where they plan to visit Boston and New York. “Kate and William are not taking this trip lightly and have been brainstorming with their team about the most effective ways to make a positive impact in the U.S.,” the source said. “They’re taking a hands-on approach with speeches and engagements.”

The two intend to “squeez[e] in some personal time” during the trip, particularly during their visit to New York after spending a few days in Boston.

Kate and William want to take “quick trip to New York, where they can enjoy the festivities in the build-up to Christmas,” the source said, adding that Kate is “dying to go ice-skating at the Rockefeller [Center] and shopping for fun souvenirs for George, Charlotte, and Louis.”
