Kate Middleton put a regal spin on red carpet attire tonight in London, attending the Top Gun: Maverick premiere in a black and white off-the-shoulder column gown by Roland Mouret. She wore her hair down and straight. Her husband Prince William wore a black suit alongside her, so the two matched. (William is the president of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).)

The outing comes after Kate wore an Emilia Wickstead coral coat dress yesterday to her first Buckingham Palace garden party of the season. William didn’t join her for that event.

The Duchess shared an Instagram reflecting on her experience at the party and how excited she was to see royal fans there. “So lovely to see so many people (including lots of familiar faces!) at today’s garden party,” she wrote. “An opportunity to show our gratitude to individuals and organizations across the country who are going above and beyond, doing fantastic work in their communities.”

Kate and William’s appearance tonight comes after the couple did a tour of Scotland last week together. They posted two Instagrams reflecting on that experience.

“Thanks to ‘Tiny teacher’ Saul, mum Laura and instructor Joan for having us along to your Roots of Empathy session earlier today,” the couple wrote in their first post, featuring photos from their Glasgow primary school visit. “How you guide children’s understanding of a baby’s needs and emotions is such a forward-thinking approach. Helping children build empathy is a crucial part of good social and emotional development.”

In a second post, they reflected on their visit to Glasgow University. “Exam season can be an especially challenging time for students of all ages,” they wrote. “The support offered by the University of Glasgow, as well as the understanding and empathy of its students, has given us a real insight and emphasises [sic] the importance and value of talking about mental wellbeing especially during this #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek It was so lovely to see so many people at the University today—it was buzzing!”
